Well we had a great morning, all things considered. Audrey ate a lot during the night, more than normal up until 3am when she needed to stop for the fast. She took pedialyte this morning when she woke up and was her happy, smiling cooing self as usual. She did great in the pre-op room for her wellness check-up and waiting for them to take her to surgery. She was happy and peaceful all morning. We had an encouraging time of prayer with my parents and our friend and priest Rob. He read Psalm 91, which is what Will and I read last night actually so that was encouraging.
We met the surgeon, Dr. Jaggers, a really nice anesthesiologist from South Africa and one of Audrey’s nurses. Everyone promised they would take care of her as their own. She had fallen asleep by the time the nurse took her for surgery.
We’ve received one update about 45 minutes ago that Audrey was still in the intra-op stage. She is asleep and they have placed the IVs except for one artery in her arm which they were having a little trouble with but I’m sure they figured it out by now. We should receive another update pretty soon.
Thank you for thinking and praying for Audrey and us today:)
***Update as of 10:30: We just heard back from the ICU nurse. Audrey has been on the heart and lung machine for a half hour and is doing well. It looks like they might be able to stretch the collateral artery to the main pulmonary artery without using the graft. This would be the best possible situation. She said the doctor is still assessing the situation and making a plan.***
***Update as of 11:30: Quick update: The connection is done. They were able to stretch the collateral artery without using a graft. They are taking her off the heart and lung machine now and she should be all finished within 45min-hour. We are thanking God for this very good update! ***
